Strike20 sizing system

Tactical Gear Size Chart & Measurement Guide

Everything on this page works from your body measurements, not garment measurements. Take four numbers with a soft tape, and the charts below — or the What's my size? tool on every product page — convert them into your exact Strike20 size, with the right amount of wearing ease already calculated in for each cut.

Quick answers
  • Shirts, tops and jackets are sized from your chest circumference, measured under the armpits.
  • Pants are sized from your waist at the pelvic bone — all Strike20 pants have stretch waistbands.
  • Strike20 sizes run XS–6XL depending on the line; the charts below show both cm and inches.
  • Between sizes? Size up on tops; on pants take the size whose range contains your waist.
  • Fastest route: the What's my size? button on every product page does the math for you.

How to measure yourself — correctly

Use a soft tailor's tape over bare skin or a thin shirt. Keep it flat and level all the way around — snug, never tight. If a number surprises you, take it twice: a tape that slips 2 cm can change your size.

How to measure chest circumference for a tactical shirt

Chest — decides your shirt, uniform top and jacket size

  1. Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your chest, under the armpits.
  2. Keep it level front and back — a tape that dips at the spine reads small.
  3. Arms relaxed at your sides, breathe normally, read the number on a normal exhale.
Most common mistake Flexing or inflating the chest. Measure your real resting chest — the ease we build in already covers movement.
How to measure waist at the pelvic bone for tactical pants

Waist — decides your pants and uniform bottom size

  1. Wrap the tape around your pelvic bone — where the pants actually sit, not at the navel and not at the narrowest point.
  2. Keep it level all the way around, back to the same spot.
  3. Stand naturally. Don't pull in your stomach — the pants will know.
Most common mistake Measuring at the belly button. Tactical pants ride on the hip bones; measuring higher can add several centimeters and a full size.
How to measure arm length from neck to wrist for sleeve fit

Arm length — optional, protects your sleeve reach

  1. Start at the base of the neck, centre of the back.
  2. Run the tape over the point of the shoulder.
  3. Continue down the arm to the wrist bone, elbow slightly bent.
Most common mistake Measuring armpit-to-wrist only. Sleeve reach is counted from the neck — the shorter measurement will mislead the calculation.
How to measure leg length from ankle to hip for tactical pants

Leg length — tells us how the pants will break on you

  1. Stand straight, shoes off, legs slightly apart.
  2. Run the tape up the outside of your leg, from the ankle bone to the hip.
  3. Keep the tape straight — don't follow the curve of the leg.
Most common mistake Measuring the inseam instead. We work from the outer leg because that's how the outseam on the chart is measured.

Height — fine-tunes garment length

  1. Back against a wall, no shoes, heels touching the wall.
  2. Floor to the top of your head.
Why it matters Two men with the same chest can be 15 cm apart in height. Height never changes your size — it tells you whether that size will run long or short on you, so you can decide with open eyes.

How Strike20 calculates your size

Most size charts print garment measurements and leave the math to you. Ours does the opposite. We rebuilt this whole system after watching too many customers order from flat garment numbers and get it wrong — the math below is now inside every chart and inside the What's-my-size tool. Here is exactly what happens to your numbers.

1 · Flat width × 2 = garment circumference

A chart's "chest 58 cm" means the shirt measures 58 cm laid flat — 116 cm around. Your body circumference must be compared with the doubled number, never the flat one. Comparing chest-to-flat is the #1 cause of ordering two sizes too big.

2 · Wearing ease — the room you need to move

A shirt exactly your chest size would pin your arms. Each cut carries its own ease: regular combat shirts run about 8 cm over body, the fitted ShadowX about 3 cm, and jackets about 14 cm so they layer over a shirt or soft armor. The charts subtract this for you.

3 · Stretch waistbands — pants work in reverse

Every Strike20 pants line uses an elastic waistband that measures smaller than your body flat and expands to grip. So a 97 cm waist correctly wears a band marked 86.5 cm flat. Follow the body-measurement column in the pants charts — the flat number is meant to be below your waist.

4 · Length checks — height, arms, legs

After the size is fixed by chest or waist, your height, arm length and leg length are checked against that size's garment length, sleeve reach and outseam. Long arms can move you up a size so the cuff reaches your wrist; nothing ever moves you down.

Worked example. Chest 107.5 cm on the CoolingX Tactical Shirt: XL measures 58 cm flat = 116 cm around, leaving 8.5 cm of ease — correct. The same chest on the fitted ShadowX is also XL (111 cm around, 3.5 cm ease — a deliberately closer cut). And a 97.5 cm waist on CoolingX pants is XL: the stretch band measures 86.5 cm flat and expands to hold securely. One body, one size letter, three different garments — that consistency is the whole point of the system.

Size charts — every Strike20 line

Each chart has two halves. The left columns are the factory's own measurements — the garment measured flat on a table, identical to the printed factory chart. The right columns are our conversion: the body measurements that size actually fits, with the wearing ease already applied. The What's-my-size tool runs this exact conversion.

How factory numbers become your size
Shirts & jackets: factory flat 58 cm  →×2→  116 cm around  → minus wearing ease (8 cm regular / 3 cm ShadowX / 14 cm jackets) →  fits a chest up to 108 cm = XL.
Pants: factory band flat 86.5 cm  →  the elastic waistband stretches beyond its flat width  →  grips a waist up to 99.5 cm = XL. That's why the factory number sits below your body measurement on every pants row — it's supposed to.

Find the row containing your chest measurement — the garment column shows what the shirt itself measures around; the difference is your wearing ease.

When the numbers aren't simple

The automatic tool covers the common cases. These are the situations it doesn't ask about — and what to do in each one.

Belly larger than chest

Shirts must close over your widest point. If your stomach measures more than your chest, run the tape around the fullest part of your midsection and use that number in the chest column instead. The shoulders will run slightly roomy — that beats a shirt that gaps at the buttons.

Broad shoulders or a V-taper

If shirts usually fit your chest but bind across the upper back, take your normal chest size and choose the Loose option in the tool — or go one size up in the charts. Tactical cuts carry their room in the body, not the shoulders.

No tape measure at hand

Use a phone-charger cable or a piece of string: wrap it, pinch the meeting point, then lay it against a rigid ruler or a tile edge. Avoid measuring a garment you own — its own ease will mislead the chart by a full size.

Off the top of a chart

If your measurement is above the largest size in any table, we can usually arrange a custom order directly with the factory. Message us on WhatsApp with the garment you want plus your chest or waist number.

Sizing a whole team

Ordering uniforms for a unit or company? Send each member's chest, waist and height — a simple list is enough — and we'll return a per-person size sheet before you order, mixed sizes included. Contact us to set it up.

Keeping the fit after washing

Wash cold, close all hook-and-loop panels first, and hang dry. High-heat drying is what shrinks ripstop blends — avoid it and the size you bought stays the size you wear.

Still unsure after all of this? Send us your measurements on WhatsApp and a human will size you personally — no tool involved.

Sizing FAQ

What measurements do I need to find my Strike20 size?

Two numbers do most of the work: your chest circumference for shirts, jackets and uniform tops, and your waist circumference for pants. Height, arm length and leg length fine-tune the recommendation but never change it by more than one size.

Should I measure my body or a garment that fits me?

Measure your body. Every Strike20 size chart converts body measurements into sizes for you — the wearing ease is already calculated in. Measuring an old garment adds its unknown ease on top of ours and usually lands you one size too big.

Do I measure in centimeters or inches?

Either. Our tables show both, and the What's-my-size tool on every product page has a cm/in switch. If you convert manually, 1 inch = 2.54 cm.

Why did I get a different size in ShadowX than in CoolingX?

The label ranges are aligned across our lines, so most people get the same letter everywhere. But the garments are cut differently: ShadowX is our most fitted shirt, CoolingX and SecurityS are regular, and the jackets are cut roomy for layering. Same size letter, different intended fit.

How do the stretch waistbands change pants sizing?

All Strike20 pants use an elastic waistband that measures smaller flat than your body and expands to grip securely. That is why the flat waist number printed on the chart is below your body measurement — it is supposed to be. Follow the body-measurement column, not the flat garment column.

What if I'm between two sizes?

Take the larger size for shirts and jackets — tactical tops are cut to move with you, and one size of extra room beats a tight chest. For pants, the stretch waistband covers the in-between zone, so take the size whose range contains your waist.

What if my arms are longer than average?

Enter your arm length (base of neck, over the shoulder, to the wrist bone) in the What's-my-size tool. If your sleeves need it, the tool sizes you up so the cuff reaches your wrist — it never sizes you down.

Are tactical pants supposed to be this long?

Yes — they are cut to stack slightly over the boot so the hem never rides up when you crouch or climb. If you prefer a cleaner break, a simple hem works; the tool warns you when a size will run notably long on your legs.

Still not sure? You're covered.

If the size isn't right, you have 30 days to exchange or return it in resalable condition for a full product refund. Order the size the chart says — the risk is on us, not on your tape measure.

Ask us first

Or skip the tables entirely

Every Strike20 product page has a What's my size? button. Enter your measurements once and it runs everything on this page for that exact garment — ease, stretch waistband, sleeve reach and length — and tells you your size with the reasoning spelled out.
